Veteran Ditches the Cot for New Digs! #181

Move-in 181

Design Leads: Mary Gibbons & Marilyn Cahill

Marilyn & Mary led a volunteer team today in transforming an empty space into a welcoming home for a single Veteran at the V.A. Freedom Center on the grounds of Hines Hospital. He had been sleeping on a military cot, getting by with some kitchen items, towels & a blanket. Tonight, he is surrounded by beautiful furniture and all he needs to start a new chapter in his life.

Many thanks to all of our volunteers, both on site and behind the scenes. Volunteers today included our driver, Jason Huth, founder Janelle Towne, Tom Cahill, Clare Gibbons ,and her three college friends representing Dayton, Marquette, and Indiana U. Behind the scenes volunteers included Sherry Kulhanek, Michelle Bjarnson, James Krivicich, and Don Spetter. Kudos to Linda Farley for her thoughtful gifts to help this veteran along the way. Shout-out to Penny Kirschbaum for the Kirschbaums Cake.

And as always, THANK YOU to the many supporters (too many to name ) for the incredible furniture and houseware donations always finding their way to Home 2 Home Project. We are so grateful. Your donations enable us to ‘shop the warehouse’ to find the perfect furniture, artwork, lamps & other household items for our client - free of charge. And more thanks to those who purchase the items on the Amazon wish list. None of this transformation is possible without each of you & every kind & generous act is so appreciated. We could not create beautiful homes, to help restore dignity for our client(s), without the endless & incredible support H2H Project receives .
