#MoveInDay: H2H Helps Another Veteran!

Presently, there are over 18 million veterans in the United States, making up for less than 10 percent of the total population, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs – and on Friday, H2H was honored to assist a local Army veteran, who selflessly served our country for 9 years, and furnish his home with the help of 12 volunteers.

Life is all about second chances, and yesterday was no different. Our veteran – like many veterans, struggled to reintegrate into civilian life after serving in the Army, and just recently moved to Illinois from his home state looking for a fresh start. 

Like many veterans, the real battle starts when they return home – with PTSD and other issues known only to veterans, the path to settling down into civilian life becomes incredibly difficult.

But thanks to you, our donors and volunteers, we successfully furnished our veteran’s home – filling the rooms in his house with furniture, decorations, household items, kitchen essentials, bathroom essentials, bedding, picture frames, rugs and so much more. 

When we arrived, he only had an air mattress and an old loveseat – but when he left, it was a total transformation. And now our veteran and his two furry companions – his beloved cats, have a place where they can finally call home.
