#MoveInDay 60

What a day! So much love from so many people. We can’t express how grateful we are for everyone’s help in making this happen! As you look through the pictures remember that the man who will be living here was exonerated after being accused of a murder and serving 23 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. He, along with more than 50 other people, were the victims of a corrupt Chicago detective who has yet to pay for his crimes.

We were honored to be able to give him this small gift—- a warm, inviting home before Christmas. Thank you Jennifer Lentine of Smallcakes Western Springs for your incredibly generous donation! It was difficult for all of us to pretend like we didn’t see or smell those delicious cupcakes. Roberto said it was the best part of the move in! Sharing Connections, our wonderful community partner, provided the brand new mattresses. Marcia Sullivan, our Warehouse Manager, did behind the scenes work scheduling drop offs and pick ups and making this happen, Jane Frances, thank you for the consulting and design expertise and for dropping everything on Sunday morning to help with staging. Meg Caswell provided expertise and took the lead on this one — thank you!

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO Steve Goodwin and Onajh Porter for being our knights in shining armor and doing the heavy lifting.
