#MoveInDay 53

We would love to show you our client walking into this beautiful space, however, due to her young age and circumstances, we are unable. In case you missed our last post, our client was found living with her toddler son in an abandoned building after “aging out” of foster care. She became pregnant after being victimized by the foster family she had been living with and was found several months ago by one of our community partners during a street outreach.

She had NEVER HAD A NAME. She was known as “Babygirl Powell”. She is 19 and is now named Mia. Mia is enrolled in Job Corps and working towards her GED and is looking forward to a bright future!

Thank you especially to all of those who contributed to the crowd rise-as you look through the photos you will see that we were able to purchase many brand new items with the money raised! Our 100% volunteer run organization does NOT qualify for government grant money and relies solely on financial donations from the public. Unlike other organizations we do not have administrative staff and your donation will be used for the sole purpose of providing more Move In Days for more people.

Thank you to our volunteers and especially to:

  • Debbie Feiler of Bbs Baby Donuts (The donuts were a big hit and thank you for sustaining us as well!)

  • Jeanne Plunkett (Thank you for providing a nail spa day for Mia!)

  • Lorraine O’Malley of Sweet Clover for providing that delicious chocolate cake for our client

  • Lee Rosenberg of www.flowermamas.com for the beautiful plant arrangement

  • Janet Evans of Zeldas Kitchen Witches, thank you and your group of wonderful women for providing brand new kitchen essentials for our client. Your support means everything to us.

  • Thank you Amy, our connection at Sharing Connections. for always providing brand new mattresses for our clients. You embrace what it really means to share with and love your neighbor.

  • Jen Data THANK YOU for sending a Peapod truck full of groceries. You are so incredibly generous with a huge heart.
